The F.I.C. Program

F.I.C. (Femme Intégration Construction) is a program that supports the integration of women into the construction industry.

To promote the integration and retention of women in the construction trades. The Program focuses specifically on construction trades with Red Seal potential. It is important to note that the ultimate goal of the Program is not for the learner to become “Red Seal” certified, as there are several steps in the career path before this qualification can be obtained.

The Red Seal designation proves that a worker meets the Canadian standards of skill and knowledge required in their trade.
A Red Seal trade is a trade for which you must meet the requirements of the Red Seal exam. This is how the various provinces and territories of Canada ensure that all Canadian workers in this type of trade comply with established standards. It is a harmonization of the minimum professional skills required to perform a job as a skilled trade worker.

F.I.C. aims to act as a multiplier for the integration of women into the industry. It is not a referral network; it does not intervene in the learner’s formal training, but serves as a conduit for information to build learners’ competence.

The program is funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Canadian Apprenticeship Training Strategy, one of whose objectives is to promote equity in skilled and productive labor in various key sectors.

The program is run by Les Elles de la construction, a non-profit organization. The dedicated F.I.C. team is made up of employees from the organization and its partners.
